“Dreamscape” by Patricia Shaw

My current work is concerned with complexity that underlies the surface of individual things and people.Technically I layer stains and glazes in various combinations and fire each piece several times In order to produce very subtly complex surface tensions and illusions of depth. Conceptually I am interested in the various aspects of beings and bodies and by intermingling them, the many different ways they can expressed and used.

Conceptually I try to show the many complex intermingled self aspects and even separate selves that underline the final surface expression of a human personality, as well as the many different ways these combine to produce a more or less successful integration of self.
