“Cave Love” by Scot Wittman

The Grand Jeté Series shines light on the precious and its diminishing presence.

After a full recovery from partial paralysis I collaborated with bionano scientists and prosthetics designers. These unsung heroes bring incredible breakthroughs. Eyesight has been restored by replacing cells from the limbus, the ring around the cornea, of people who have been blind for a lifetime. Beyond this miracle, technology has delivered vision exceeding limbus limits; ocular implant relaying digital signal. The lines between cosmetics, restoration, extraordinariness and unbridled decadence are blurring. While I found this all fascinating, it made it more clear natural ability is shrinking as fast as nature itself under the industrial cover. I walked out of the lab and into the theater. Dancers, with their lifelong pursuit of honing their bodies for exquisite performance, became my focus. They speak to possibility and wonder. The works are about hope and reinforcement amidst changing ecosystems.
