Crows – a Study in Silhouettes

Corvids are smarter than your average bird. They keep an eye on the neighborhood. And they’re very graphic. That is, they’re very striking on the page. Learn to create silhouettes of these canny creatures in different poses. Then paint a dead tree and populate it with a murder of crows. You’ll discover that the birds are more colorful than they seem.

About the Instructor
Doris Ettlinger: A graduate of RISD and the University of Wisconsin – Madison; teacher/coach of the Musconetcong Watercolor Group in Hampton NJ. She has illustrated 40 picture books for children. Her books feature a sensitive drawing style and skillful watercolor technique. Doris’s work has been included in the 2024 International Exhibition of the American Watercolor Society.
