Birthday Party Aides
Love children? Serve as volunteer assistant to instructors during children’s birthday art parties. Birthday parties are held on Saturdays and Sundays. Must be 16+. Please contact Heather Ball, Director of Education, at 908.234.2345 ext. 102 or email [email protected].
Building & Grounds
Looking for a hands-on way to help? Help maintain the art center’s historic facility and property through light weeding and gardening, and handyman tasks such as painting, light bulb changing, and minor repairs.
Fundraising Events
Want to join forces for a good cause? Join an event committee and work with the staff to provide vital support to the art center’s fundraising initiatives. Attend regular committee meetings and assist with events from inception to completion! Volunteers are involved with sponsorship, ticket sales, marketing, and more!
Installation Crew
Love art? Get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into mounting an art exhibition. Help exhibiting artists install and display artwork and signage, repair nail holes, perform light painting etc.
Special Events
Enjoy working with the public? Lend a hand at special events such as gallery receptions, Youth Art Month programs, lectures, and more by greeting guests, helping with registration, serving wine, setting up hors d’oeuvres, etc.
Summer Art Camp Student Assistants
Volunteer at The Center as a Summer Art Camp Assistant. This opportunity is open to high school and college students ages 16 and up who enjoy working with children and are interested in art or education. Student Assistants work alongside teaching artists to support daily camp activities, engage with campers ages 5 to 15, and help maintain a safe, organized, and creative studio environment.
Camps run weekly from June 22 through September 4, 2026, with both full- and half-day commitments available. Camp Assistants earn community service hours and gain hands-on experience in an arts education setting, making this an ideal opportunity for students interested in youth programs, teaching, or the arts.
Commitment Requirements
Volunteers who can commit to at least one full week of camp are preferred. A full day of camp runs from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Volunteers who can commit to a full camp session for the entire week will receive priority placement in their preferred sessions. Flexible scheduling is also available, with options for half-day participation in the morning from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm or in the afternoon from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Eligibility
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age at the time of employment.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Applicants must be reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions, as well as be comfortable working with children in a group setting. Candidates should demonstrate a positive, professional attitude, a willingness to assist as needed, and the ability to support a structured, engaging camp environment. An interest in art, education, or working with school-aged children is recommended. Camp directors will provide a mandatory training session to review safety protocols, emergency procedures, and general program expectations. Applicants must commit to at least one full week of camp.

Volunteer Service Hours
Hours worked in this role can count toward community service or experiential learning requirements for an honors society, depending on the policies of the student’s organization. This is an unpaid position. The Center will record volunteer hours and supply verification and signatures from the camp director once completed. Volunteers should verify their eligibility with their organization and submit any necessary paperwork for approval before their first volunteering day.
