“I focus on time as a material phenomena in various media, often drawing inspiration from the natural environment. I use layering, repetition, and pattern across textiles, mixed media on paper and canvas, video, and text. New patterns emerge from these processes. It is in these new patterns that I find the truth of all transformation, a kind of material mantra, and the possibility of a more human and interconnected understanding.” — Gabriella D’Italia

Getting Dressed In The Dark, An Artist’s Way Home
by Gabriella D’Italia
“Part candid memoir, part philosophical meditation, Getting Dressed in the Dark is both a daringly intimate exploration of one woman’s life, love, body, and art while also grappling profoundly with how we collectively make, resist, and bend meaning in our larger cultural landscape. A book to be savored and re-read, especially now.”
