C206-Pottery

Students will gain an understanding of the nature of clay. They will experience first hand the magic of transforming clay into vessels as they are challenges artistically to discover their relationship with the wheel and clay. Glazing and firing will be covered. Functional and sculptural handbuilding projects will be explored. Experimentation will be encouraged.

NOTE: There is no class 4/17.

All students must comply with the Policies and Procedures found on The Center's website. There will be no refunds for students removed from class for failure to observe The Center’s Policies and Procedures.

Materials

All materials are included, however, we recommend bringing a smock or old t-shirt to wear over clothes to avoid messes.

About the Instructor

Jennifer Evans Arbo

Jennifer Evans Arbo is a Fine Arts Ceramicist and Photographer residing in New Jersey. Originally from California, she traveled the world, living in England, Spain and Uruguay before landing on the East Coast. She has a BA and Post graduate degree from London College of Fashion and minored in Ceramics. Jennifer specializes in wheel throwing a sgraffito surface technique in her ceramics and uses the human form to tell emotional stories in clay. Jennifer shares her love of art by helping to inspire the next generation of artists. She has been teaching fashion to young adults and currently teaches beginner ceramics to adults and teens at the Center for Contemporary Arts in Bedminster, NJ.
