450-Ceramic Overglaze Workshop: Adding a Finishing Touch to your Pieces

Join Jennifer Evans Arbo for an overglaze application workshop. Overglaze decals are a great way to boost your finished piece and add a touch of uniqueness to your base glazed ceramics. A small amount of luster overglazes will be used for details to enhance the decal design.

This one day workshop will focus on overglaze decal application and light luster techniques. How to prepare your glazed ceramics for application, applying luster and overglaze decals and safety measures (gloves and masks) will be used for application. This hands-on class is designed for ceramic artists who wish to enhance their work with the an extra step to enhance your ceramic pieces.

Students will bring 4-6 pieces of finished pieces fired to cone 6 or cone 10. All pieces should have been made by the student, no commercial ceramic ware will be accepted.

After the workshop, we will fire your pieces for you to cone 018. You will be able to pick up your finished pieces 1-2 weeks later.

Some Clay experience required. All materials will be provided for during the workshop.

All students must comply with the Policies and Procedures found on The Center's website. There will be no refunds for students removed from class for failure to observe The Center’s Policies and Procedures.

Materials

Students are welcome to bring in any of their own overglaze decals or lusters to use.

All other materials will be provided for during the workshop. 



NOTE: There is a $12.00 fee added for materials, which the instructor will provide.

About the Instructor

Jennifer Evans Arbo

Jennifer Evans Arbo is a Fine Arts Ceramicist and Photographer residing in New Jersey. Originally from California, she traveled the world, living in England, Spain and Uruguay before landing on the East Coast. She has a BA and Post graduate degree from London College of Fashion and minored in Ceramics. Jennifer specializes in wheel throwing a sgraffito surface technique in her ceramics and uses the human form to tell emotional stories in clay. Jennifer shares her love of art by helping to inspire the next generation of artists. She has been teaching fashion to young adults and currently teaches beginner ceramics to adults and teens at the Center for Contemporary Arts in Bedminster, NJ.
