317-Tri-Color Portrait

This course will introduce students to the principles associated with using only three colors. Demonstrations, guidance, and critiques will help the students acquire a true command of the tri-color process. This course will introduce you to concepts and techniques used by Rubens, Watteau, and others, which will help you navigate the mysteries of composition, perspective, shading and rendering.

Materials

Charcoal pencils (soft, medium, hard)
White Charcoal pencil (Generals)

Dry Sanguine pencil (Conté á Paris, or Faber Castell)

Canson drawing paper (Tan or eggshell)

Oscar Peterson

An alumnus of Pratt Institute and The Art Students League of NY. Studied with leading realist painters as Max Ginsberg and Nelson Shanks, teaches at The Art Students League, NYC and gives private lessons. Award winning portrait artist; exhibits in NY, NJ and Connecticut galleries.
