301-Introduction to Drawing

This course introduces students to the use of various graphic media such as charcoal, pencil, crayon, chalk, pen and ink, and/or brush and wash. Specific techniques such as form modeling, spatial illusions will be covered.

Masks are suggested but not required.


All students must comply with the Health and Safety Policies and Procedures found on The Center's website. There will be no refunds for students removed from class for failure to observe The Center’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

In the event of a closure due to the COVID-19 virus, this class will move online using ZOOM. There will be no refunds or credits for classes that were scheduled to take place on-site but were moved to an online format for health and safety purposes.

I would like to save you as much money as possible on buying the material.

Please purchase the least expensive brands of the materials.

I have included places to buy them. To save money you can start at the dollar store and whatever you can’t find there get at the other places. Please look the materials up online so you have an idea of what they look like when you shop for them.

About the Instructor

Oscar Peterson

An alumnus of Pratt Institute and The Art Students League of NY. Studied with leading realist painters as Max Ginsberg and Nelson Shanks, teaches at The Art Students League, NYC and gives private lessons. Award winning portrait artist; exhibits in NY, NJ and Connecticut galleries.
