203-En Plein Air at Whittemore

En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air” and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist's subject in full view. This class will meet at beautiful Whittemore - Community, Culture & Conservation in Oldwick, NJ. Wes Sherman will lead the classes and will talk about the paintings created during the term.
  
You will learn how to paint outdoors, learn ways of looking at the nature around you, and consider what it might mean to be a contemporary landscape painter.

Please Note: These classes will be held exclusively at the Whittemore Community, Culture and Conservation located at 7, Rockaway Rd, Lebanon, NJ 08833. In the event of rain there will be an indoor space provided. 

NOTE: There is no class on 5/27.

Special Notes

All students must comply with the Policies and Procedures found on The Center's website. There will be no refunds for students removed from class for failure to observe The Center’s Policies and Procedures.

Materials

Students may work in either oil, acrylic or watercolor. Please bring whatever supplies you already have in the medium of your choice.

About the Instructor

Wes Sherman

Artist Wes Sherman has been painting since 1992 and has been included in hundreds of exhibitions across the county and Europe.. He received his MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in 2003. Sherman has been a visiting artist at many universities and the recipient of a fellowship for painting from New Jersey Council of the Arts. For the past 15 years Sherman has focused on landscape painting, in particular en plein air painting.He is the chair of exhibitions at The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster, New Jersey.
