Materials
Most of the following supplies may be purchased at any art supply store. Start with what you already have. Not all materials are needed for the first day. If you have any questions, please contact the instructor at [email protected].Paper (students may work on white, or colored paper, or both):
Charcoal/Pastel pads (11 x 14", 12 x 16", or 18 X 24")
assorted colors for graphite or charcoal and/or individual sheets
Graphite Pencils: 2B, B, HB, H, 2H or Mechanical pencils (.5mm and/or .9mm- HB, F, H, 2H, 4H)
Charcoal Pencils: Assorted grades (General's and/or Pitt)
Vine/Willow charcoal sticks
White Charcoal (for working with colored paper):
White charcoal pencil (General's and/or Pitt)
General's white drawing stick
General Items:
Plumbline: Make one of straight dark thread and a nail (or other small object)
Viewfinder: Make one of shirt cardboard or the back of a legal pad. Make 2 "L" shapes, about 7" on the leg and 1.5" wide. Use 2 paper clips to attach.
Knitting needle (a thin one #0,1,or 2) or bamboo skewer
Single-edge razor blade or small utility knife with retractable blade (for sharpening pencils)
Sandpaper
black Binder/bankers clips
Artist tape
Erasers
Kneaded eraser
Pink pearl eraser
Boards Sketch board or foam board (large enough for 18 x 24"- or cut a little larger than paper size)
