121-Art History and Art Appreciation

What is art? What makes art good? When did we begin to create art? In this class we will look at all these questions and more, while studying art through history. Art grows and changes throughout history along with our culture, making it an integral part of the human experience and understanding art helps us better understand our world.

About the Instructor

William Staats

William Staats (Wil) has been a life long student of the arts. Wil attended Bridgewater Raritan High School where he took many art classes and was involved in the Somerset County 4-H fine arts club and open divisions. Wil continued studying art in college and further developed his passion for ceramics. Outside of his schooling, Wil is the makeup director for Scare Farm, and loves exploring fun and new ways to create art.
