En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air” and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist's subject in full view. This class will meet at beautiful Whittemore - Community, Culture & Conservation in Oldwick, NJ. Three different instructors, Wes Sherman, Oscar Peterson, and TBD —will lead 2 classes each and on the final day, all 3 instructors will be present to talk about the paintings created during the term.
Each of these instructors has their own unique way of thinking about contemporary en plein air painting. With each instructor, you will learn how to paint outdoors, learn ways of looking at the nature around you, and consider what it might mean to be a contemporary landscape painter.
Please Note: These classes will be held exclusively at the Whittemore Community, Culture and Conservation located at 7, Rockaway Rd, Lebanon, NJ 08833. In the event of rain there will be an indoor space provided.
