This class is designed to develop skills to work with acrylic paints. Through experimentation on various surfaces with acrylic paints, students will learn about the advantages and limitations of using acrylic paint, how they differ from oil and other paint mediums, and how to overcome common challenges. This class will also focus on basic techniques in painting, such as color, blending, mixing, layering, brush types, stroke quality, preparing surfaces, and preserving work.
Level: Adult and Teens 16+ - Basic knowledge of drawing and sketching would be beneficial but is not mandatory.

This is a virtual class that will be taking place via Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent a day prior to the class start day.
Materials
-Pencil & some paper or sketchbook
-Palette (Can be palette paper, a plastic or paper plate, anything available to you)
-Watercolor paper, Canvas Board to start. *Option later in the class to try different surfaces: stretched canvas, unstretched canvas, gesso boards, etc. Students can wait to purchase these
-Acrylic Paint: suggested colors: Titanium White, Paynes Gray, Burnt Umber, & Primary Colors (Red, Yellow, and Blue – Some suggested primary colors to try: Cadmium Red, Quinacridone Red, Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue, Pthalo Blue, Cadmium Yellow Medium, or other colors that speak to you.) Students are not limited to these colors and are welcome to use additional colors of their choice.
-Matte Medium
-Gloss, Satin, or Matte Varnish (not necessary until the end of class, and is optional)
-Brushes: Brushes of various sizes (A pre-packaged variety pack of small to medium size brushes is fine or you can purchase individually: round brush, filbert and a flat brush of your choosing (consider a variety of sizes)
-Large cup or container for paint water, and plastic saran wrap.
-If you have a spray bottle to fill with water, bring it along, if not, no problem!
