245-Beginner Watercolor

If you ever wanted to paint in watercolors, but were afraid to try, this workshop would be a great start. Students will learn the basics of watercolor, use of material, washes and different techniques will be discussed and practiced during the workshop. Instructor will do demonstrations and students will work on their own paintings to learn the wonders of watercolor.

Special Notes

Health & Safety Policy:  The Center has updated its Health and Safety Policies and Procedures. COVID-19 vaccinations are suggested but not required. Mask wearing is welcome but not required. 


Materials

Supply List:
-Palette of Watercolors: Cadmium Red Cadmium Yellow Ultra-marine Blue Sap Green Viridian Burnt Umber Burnt Sienna Yellow Ochre Alizarin Crimson Permanent White (gouache)

-Optional colors: Cerulean Blue Payne's Gray
-2 jars for water
-Tissues
-Palette (large plastic)
-1" Flat Brush -Round watercolor brushes #7 and #10
-kneaded eraser
-HB pencil
-Watercolor paper or block (140lbs or more)
-Artist tape

Optional: -Some kind of board to tape down your paper if not using block

About the Instructor

Lena Shiffman

A well published children's book illustrator; attended Spectrum Institute of Commercial Art in NJ; studied at The Parsons School of Design and the Art Students League NYC; member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and of the Rutgers University Children's Book Council.
