112-Figure Drawing and Sculpting

Sculpting Class: 

Learn sculpture in the classic atelier method. You will learn basic figure and portrait sculpture. Working from the live model, anatomy, proportion, and form will be covered. Open to all levels.

Figure drawing

Students will learn how to capture form and gesture through direct observation. Emphasis will be placed on expressive line quality, and understanding the figure in terms of volume and values. All levels. Demonstrations will be provided.




Special Notes

All students must comply with the Policies and Procedures found on The Center's website. There will be no refunds for students removed from class for failure to observe The Center’s Policies and Procedures.


Materials

Sculpting Supplies:

Portrait, or Figure armature*
8 in. aluminum calipers*
Clay sculpting tools (No. 262, or 263 wood tools, rake, non-serrated knife)*
Plastic bag (to cover in-progress work)
Spray bottle
Small piece of 1x2 wood


Figure Drawing Supplies: 


Newsprint and/or drawing paper pad (no larger than 18x24)*
Graphite, and/or charcoal pencils*
Vine or willow charcoal*
Matt knife and sandpaper (100 or 120 grit)
Kneaded and plastic erasers*


*May be purchased at Jerry's Artarama, Blick, or any good art supply store.
