The Friends of the Jacobus Vanderveer House & Museum are hosting the 2nd annual Field of Honor® on Sunday, July 2nd at River Road Park in Bedminster to celebrate our great nation, pay tribute to the service men and women who have preserved our freedom, and honor loved ones.
The Field of Honor® program is part of a national movement that started out as a way to commemorate the lives lost on September 11, 2001. In just a short amount of time, the concept has grown and communities across America are turning to Field of Honor® tributes to raise money and awareness for a growing array of causes.
Over two hundred American flags will be available for adoption and displayed in the North Field of River Road Park in Bedminster beginning Sunday, June 25 through Tuesday, July 4th. On Sunday, July 2nd, the community is invited to stroll through the Field of Honor® and picnic on the grounds from 1 to 4 pm. There will be free music, with food and beverages available for purchase. Proceeds will support the VetREST, a non-profit organization to help veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS).
Flags are available for sale beginning Tuesday, May 30 at Bedminster Town Hall, online at www.jvanderveerhouse.org or www.healingfield.org/bedminster17. Flags are $40 each, and will be identified with your personal sentiment. Flags may be picked up on Wednesday, July 5 after 4 pm.
