DESCRIPTION:A group exhibition showcasing the work of our three 2022 International Juried Exhibition Solo Exhibition Award winners.\nOpening: Friday\, April 21\, 2023 from 6-8 p.m.\n\nTracy DiTolla: Tragic Flaws\n\n2022 International Juried Exhibition Solo Exhibition Award \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n	\n\n	\n \n \n\nTracy DiTolla received her BA in art history from William Paterson University\, her MA in art history and her MFA in studio art from Montclair University. Her current work is primarily done in oil on canvas and her influences include Baroque and Surreal art as well as film noir. \nShe currently resides in northern New Jersey and chairs the art and graphic design departments at Warren County College. He considers himself a semi-educated artist in that he’s taken classes at places like the Art Students League and the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan but doesn’t have any degrees in art. He does much of his learning through work. To him painting is often an adventure in a search for meaning\, a record of a discourse between what’s going on inside and outside of him. His work often has a gritty feel reflecting an interest in noir and jazz. There are expressionist influences and boundary crossing between the representational and abstract. There is often an exploration of underlying patterns suggested in compositions involving heightened impressions\, atmosphere and mood of the seeming commonplace. Current work can include the additional use of collage materials to his acrylic painting. Lately he has been more intuitive and experimental as a result of the introspection from the current circumstances of his retirement coinciding with the restrictions of the past few years. \nEpstein was selected for a solo show at the Monmouth Museum for their 2014 Emerging Artist Series. He’s been part of dual artist shows at the Hamilton Street Gallery in 2016 (Road Work) and 2019 (Midnight Mercury). While working as an x-ray technician he had paintings on 7 covers of the trade magazine “Radiologic Technology” after being a winner in their cover contest. \nClick here to read Steven Epstein’s Artist Statement\nLearn more about Steven Epstein \n\nGregory Hennen: Where I Wander\n2022 International Juried Exhibition Solo Exhibition Award \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n	\n\n	\n \n \n\nGregory Hennen is a landscape painter whose work is inspired by his extensive time spent in nature which included 15 years as the property manager for Manitou Point Nature Preserve in Garrison\, NY. While there he was responsible for designing and maintaining over 4 miles of trails along the Hudson River property. He makes graphite sketches that are often followed by small gouache paintings in preparation for more complex oil paintings created in the studio. \nHe earned his BFA from Eastern Connecticut State University\, Willimantic\, CT. His work has been shown nationally\, including group exhibitions at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art\, Huntsville Museum of Art\, University of Southern Mississippi and the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences. His painting Ridge View Wyatt Mountain was selected for the cover of the 15th edition of The Bedford Reader. His work is in the public collections of Pfizer Inc.\, Greenwich Public Library\, Greenwich\, CT and in numerous private collections. The artist has been represented by Kenise Barnes Fine Art\, Kent\, CT since 2002. He lives and works in Virginia. \nClick here to read Gregory Hennen’s Artist Statement\nLearn more about Gregory Hennen \n\nFor more information on our accessibility services and gallery access\, please call us or visit our accessibility webpage.

With my etchings I’m structurally creating images by building up layers of line and tone. Recently I’m finding myself interested in structures in less recognizable locations hoping people will focus on the technique and detail I’ve built up through my cross hatching and construction of my work.”– DeAnn L. Prosia \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Peter Dakota Shalit studies and implements philosophies and practices of presence – tapping into the raw force of creativity and allowing whatever shows up micro or macro to be expressed on the canvas. Peter acts as both the participant and the witness of the art process. Believing everything in life is art\, and art is life. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Isabell Villacis has been a part of the Matheny Arts Access program since 2011. She illustrates compassion and love for all people in her work. Her abstract paintings are populated with meticulously placed elements\, each conveying a message in their own right as they work together to make a statement overall. She has tried almost every tool and material available to her\, (even using her own wheelchair to apply paint on the canvas)\, and never turns down a chance to integrate something new into her pieces if they help her meaning. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Moderator\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Wes Sherman has been an artist for nearly 30 years. His 45 solo exhibitions include a show at Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton and at Johnson and Johnson’s Global Headquarters Gallery. He has been in hundreds of group exhibitions.
