She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Pratt Institute and Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the University of Pennsylvania. Wallace is an Adjunct Professor at Passaic County Community College and Adjunct Distinguished Professor at Kean University. Recent group exhibits include Manifesting Beloved Community\, West Windsor Arts Council with Art Against Racism\, Drift Silverwood Park Gallery\, Saint Anthony\, MN; State of the Art 2024\, Studio Montclair\, Montclair\, NJ. In addition\, she recently received an Honorable Mention award at the Love is in the Air exhibit\, Belmar Arts Council\, Belmar\, NJ; and currently has her sculpture “Mermar” on display at the Artists’ Equity virtual members’ show\, titled Red White Blue. Her contributions to the art world extend beyond print\, as she has also been actively engaged in guest residencies and lectures across the nation. Her work is held in both public and private collections both nationally and internationally\, including the Newark Public Library\, Petrucci Family Foundation Collection of African American Art\, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Pilgrim’s participation in group exhibitions is noteworthy\, particularly her inclusion in Black Histories\, Black Futures at the Museum of Fine Arts\, Boston\, MA and Gadsden Museum of Art in Gadsden\, AL. Additionally\, she serves as a board member of Frontline Arts in Branchburg\, New Jersey\, and is a member of the Florida Printmakers Society. Her contributions to the artistic community have been recognized through numerous grants and awards\, including the Newark Artist Accelerator Grant in 2020 and the 2023 Creative Catalyst Grant from Newark Arts. DESCRIPTION:In this creative workshop\, students will learn to make holiday ornaments or wall hangings to give as a gift or hang in your home year round. \nStudents will be taught to roll clay slabs\, cut out shapes\, and then add details such as texture\, glaze\, and decorate using transfer and carving techniques. A variety of shapes will be available and students will be able to create 3-5 ornaments\, and have fun while doing it! \nAfter the workshop\, we will fire your pieces for you and coat the top with clear glaze. You will be able to pick up your finished pieces 2 weeks later. \nSupplies included in workshop. \nTuition: Members $60/Non-Members $85 \nAbout the Instructor \nJennifer Evans Arbo is a Fine Arts Ceramicist and Photographer residing in New Jersey. Originally from California\, she traveled the world\, living in England\, Spain and Uruguay before landing on the East Coast. She has a BA and Post graduate degree from London College of Fashion and minored in Ceramics. Jennifer specializes in wheel throwing a sgraffito surface technique in her ceramics and uses the human form to tell emotional stories in clay. Jennifer shares her love of art by helping to inspire the next generation of artists. DESCRIPTION:Come on out and get dirty with a date night in the ceramics studio! Couples (and singles) are invited to come out for an intimate experience of throwing on the potters wheel. Our experienced instructor will guide you through the throwing process and give you options for decorating and glazing. We will glaze\, fire and package your creation for pickup. Jennifer specializes in wheel throwing a sgraffito surface technique in her ceramics and uses the human form to tell emotional stories in clay. Jennifer shares her love of art by helping to inspire the next generation of artists. She has exhibited her work throughout the US and internationally and is represented by Pictor Gallery in New York City. In 2023\, Jordan curated and presented in the national exhibition\, INQUESTtigation: Women at the Intersections of Art and Science. She is the recipient of a 2024 New Jersey State Council on the Arts Fellowship\, Manifest Gallery’s Season 20 Grand Jury Award\, and a Ford Foundation Award. Her drawings are in the collections of the Walter Piehl Gallery\, Flat Tail Press Gallery\, and ArtHouse6 Gallery. Jordan lectures on visual culture\, and her writings have appeared in TUSSLE Magazine\, ARTE FUSE\, BOMB Magazine\, Intellect Books\, and other publications. After careers in fashion design and studio ceramics\, she completed a Post Baccalaureate at University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth (2021). Tavill uses sculpture and drawing to create work that speaks to the complications of connection and entanglement. She is a recipient of a 2025 New Jersey State Council on the Arts Fellowship in Sculpture and she was chosen for residency at Vermont Studio Center\, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and Buffalo Creek Art Center. Her ceramic work is in the Flint Institute of Arts Museum permanent collection. Tavill’s sculpture has been included in museum exhibitions at Morris Museum\, Montclair Art Museum\, Hunterdon Art Museum\, Monmouth Museum and New Jersey State Museum. In that time\, he’s had 50 solo exhibitions and has been included in hundreds of group exhibitions in the US and in Europe. He has also published a number of books\, among them “This Is True” and “Penumbra”. He was the Curator and Chair of Exhibitions at the Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster\, NJ for 10 years. He has been a frequent visiting artist at universities and schools and is regularly asked to lead art programs for organizations and clubs. Sherman is an adjunct professor\, teaching at William Paterson University and Raritan Valley Community College. Attendees will experience various slip application techniques including\, brushing\, pouring\, inlaying\, stamping\, and carving. Emphasizing creativity and experimentation\, participants will learn how to use these methods to express their unique artistic voices in clay and surface. \nThis is a two-day workshop on April 5 and 6 from 10am – 4pm each day. \nAttendees are welcome to bring a potluck lunch. \nNo materials are needed for this workshop. \nTuition: $250 Non-Members/$225 Members \nAbout the Instructor \nMinsoo Yuh was born and raised in Seoul\, Korea. She earned her BFA and MFA in ceramics from Hongik University. After completing her education\, Minsoo relocated to the United States and has since been working with clay. Currently based in Athens\, GA\, Minsoo thrives as a full-time studio potter while teaching workshops and classes. She presents her work through gallery exhibitions and pottery tours nationwide while actively participating in art residencies both in the U.S. and abroad. SUMMARY:Drawing Children with a Splash of Watercolor Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop Doris Ettlinger will share the skills she used to create illustrations of children for her picture book projects. Learn to sketch children in active poses. She will teach the basics of figure drawing and constructing children in a variety of poses. The instruction will include painting silhouettes and thinking about the importance of edges in any drawing. Students will use photo reference for the final drawing. For active models\, like dogs and children\, Doris iikes to take videos\, then take screenshots of the best poses. Bring your own reference or use one of the instructor’s. The final drawing will use a splash of watercolor. \nTuition: Member: $107/Non-Member: $132 \nAbout the Instructor \nDoris Ettlinger: A graduate of RISD and the University of Wisconsin – Madison; teacher/coach of the Musconetcong Watercolor Group in Hampton NJ.
