SUMMARY:Paper Day: A Free Performance Art Event
DESCRIPTION:The Center will host Paper Day\, an immersive and participatory in-person or online performance art event that redefines the boundaries of art-making. \nThis special event is presented as part of the Murmuration exhibition by Co11ective. \nInspired by the ephemeral and transformative nature of everyday materials\, Paper Day invites participants to engage in a spontaneous exploration of creativity using an unexpected media. This performance transforms our outdoor grounds into a dynamic studio\, where participants\, adorned in white disposable gowns\, become both canvas and creator. With charcoal as a drawing tool and toilet paper as a sculptural material\, attendees are encouraged to experiment\, collaborate\, and express themselves freely. Watch as rolls of toilet paper take flight\, creating whimsical canopies over a central tent\, or as individual hands sculpt delicate and robust forms from the pulp. The event embraces the beauty of impermanence\, celebrating art that is made in the moment and reshaped by collective energy. \nFree Event \nHosted by Frank May \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Frank May is the owner and curator of M Galleries and M Galleries PNA (mgalleries.org) in Washington\, NJ. He is currently the apprentice of ceramic artist Peter Callas (petercallas.com). Frank has a BFA in Sculpture from Mason Gross School of the Arts – Rutgers\, New Brunswick\, NJ (masongross.rutgers.edu). He is also on the faculty of the duCret Center of Art in Plainfield\, NJ (ducretarts.org)

DESCRIPTION:The Center for Contemporary Art is pleased to present Better Said Than Done storytellers Robin Bady\, Sarah Brady\, Megan Hicks\, and Jessica Robinson for “Terrifying Tales: Chilly Stories for a Cool Night\,” a virtual storytelling concert benefiting The Center. These stories are intended to entertain and scare a mature audience. \nNovember 4 – Live online via Zoom\nPerformance begins at 7pm eastern \nTickets for Terrifying Tales Zoom event $10\n(On sale until November 5 at 11:59pm eastern) \nClick Here to Purchase Tickets\nWhen you purchase a ticket\, you will receive an email that will include a link to the live event on Zoom. If you do not see that email\, please contact Leigh Zona at info@ccabedminster.org. \nProceeds\, after paying the performers\, will benefit The Center for Contemporary Art. \nSTORYTELLERS \nRobin Bady is a narrative artist working nationally and internationally\,developing performances and story projects. She performs at spoken word venues\, fringes\, theaters\, and storytelling festivals.Her children’s shows are featured at major museums\, schools\, libraries. Robin’s solo show – Nancy Drewinsky and the Search for the Missing Letter – a story of McCarthyism and anti-Semitism –  tours fringe festivals and theaters. Robin hosts the BADYHouse Storytelling Concert series in Brooklyn; she also created No\, We Won’t Shut Up!\, a powerful project showcasing the voices of a diverse group of women speaking out. She has told ghost stories since she saw her first ghost. \nSarah Brady is a storyteller and teaching artist who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in speech education and a Master of Arts degree in interpretative speech. Prior to becoming a professional storyteller\, she taught communication and theatre at Hampton University. She has told stories at a variety of venues in both the United Kingdom and the United States\, working with such entities as Story Tapestries; Arts for Learning–Virginia; Cambridge Storytellers; Epic Tales; the Suffolk Archives; the White Rose Project; and the International Storytelling Centerl. For the purposes of this bio\, she is three decades into a storytelling career that has taken her to four continents and from sea to shining sea. With her husband\, whose name is (aptly) Jack\, she co-produces the Rose Valley Storytelling House Concerts series\, now in its 8th season. When she’s not working on new stories\, she’s making art from things most other people throw away. \nBetter Said Than Done Founder Jessica Robinson has performed at the International Storytelling Festival\, on PBS’ “Stories from the Stage\,” for the Queens Theater\, First Person Arts Festival\, Mostly True Things\, The Story Space\, Bridgeport Pechakucha\, at 2 National Storytelling Network(NSN) Conferences\, and the Forest Storytelling Festival. She’s shared stories on the Bonkers Brit\, Full Spirals\, and Funny Parents Podcasts. Jessica was a Featured Teller at the Stone Soup\, the Washington Folk\, the Women’s\, the Allegheny\, the Florida\, and the Hampton Storytelling Festivals.
