C208-Art for Kids with ASD and Other Special Needs Ages 6-11-IN PERSON

Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other special needs will explore a variety of art projects specifically geared to their interest and ability both in two-and-three dimensional approaches. The class fosters communication, creativity, and problem solving with hands-on activities involving clay, paint, and other materials. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

This course in generously funded by a grant from Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

COVID-19 vaccinations are suggested but not required.
Masks wearing suggested but not required.

All students must comply with the Health and Safety Policies and Procedures found on The Center's website. There will be no refunds for students removed from class for failure to observe The Center’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

In the event of a closure due to the COVID-19 virus, this class will move online using ZOOM. There will be no refunds or credits for classes that were scheduled to take place on-site but were moved to an online format for health and safety purposes.

About the Instructor

Barbara Guerriero

Barbara Guerriero-Flites is a graduate of Kean University with a BA in Art History and a BA in Sociology. She also has a Master’s Degree in Art Education. Her career started a Christ Hospital Psychiatric Unit teaching Art. She started  at Morris Union Jointure Commission since September 2001 where she has been an Art Teacher for students who have Autism since then.
