Brushes: I like Silver Black Velvet round brushes, in different sizes and shapes. They are squirrel with a touch of synthetic. Start with a #10 round and a 3/4” oval.

Paper: Good paper will take you a long way towards a satisfying watercolor experience. A few small sheets of high quality paper or 140 lb. 9 x 12” cold press block. https://www.dickblick.com/
