This is a wonderful class for the beginner. You will learn about the materials used in oil painting; their history, and the different ways to apply techniques like underpainting, glazing, and alla prima painting.
This is the virtual component of a hybrid class. There will be students participating in-person concurrently with students participating online via Zoom.

Materials
Suggested Supplies:- Brushes – a variety (oil based)
- Palette (kinds: wood or plastic)
- Palette knife
- Canvas or canvas board (size recommendation 11X 14 or 16 x 20 inches). We would recommend having 2 or 3 canvases to possibly work on at the same time.
- Oil paints (possible brand names: Grumbacher, Winsor & Newton, Rembrandt, Van Gogh)
- Oil colors: cadmium red medium, cadmium yellow light, cobalt blue, titanium white, yellow ochre, burnt umber, burnt sienna
- Linseed oil (A small container)
- Galkyd (this is a kind of Liquin and dries quickly) - a small container
- Gamsol (Odorless mineral spirit)
